At services tonight for Purim, I read along with the Megillah reading of the story of Purim, in which Queen Esther, at the urging of her uncle, Mordecai, pleads with King Acheshvarus (sp?) of Persia to save the Jews, who have been condemned to death by Haman, the king's advisor. The Persian Empire, at that time, included all the land from Babylonia to India.

As I was reading, I realized that here we are again. Ahmedinejad of Iran (Persia), the modern day Haman, has again decreed that Jews should be killed. The first Haman ended up being hanged on the gallows he had built to hang Mordecai. I hope history repeats itself.

able, I guess you find it hilarious that a country determined to develop nuclear weapons also has as its goal the determination to wipe out the Jews. As a Jew, I don't find that terribly funny. You're just too, too cute.

Menschable, what is your position on killing murderers before they can murder? Would you think it was wrong to kill Hitler before he murdered half of Europe?
I don't like Jimmy Carter, but I would never do him harm. The current leader of Iran is a murderer; given the chance to do it safely I would consider it a moral imperative to kill him and his cohorts.
