Dennis often states that he operates according to a few mottos.  Understanding them will help illuminate his motivations and beliefs.

"I prefer clarity to agreement." Most of Dennis's interviews are conducted with this motto in mind.  Dennis Prager often tries to avoid arguments or attempts to convert those that disagree with him.  Instead, having a guest state his true, clear beliefs is key.  Once a clear position is determined, Dennis addresses the areas he agrees and disagrees with, explaining why.

"There are only two races of people: the decent and the indecent." This notion is borrowed from Viktor Frankl (as written in his book, Man's Search for Meaning.  This motto highlights the only true difference between people.  Differences in race, skin color, sex, or any other variable is unimportant.  But the difference between those who treat others with decency and those who don't is unbridgeable.

"The world is made better by happy people and those who make the world worse are usually unhappy."  Dennis promotes acting happy and the positive effects of happiness on the world.  Those who are unhappy should not inflict others with their unhappiness.

"People are beautiful but humanity stinks."  Dennis believes that humanity's track record leaves much to be desired.  But individuals, on their own, can be wonderful.
